RUSHFORD, Minn., (Special) -
Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Olness, 78, who died early Thursday at her home following a stroke, will be conducted at the Rushford Lutheran Church Monday at 2 p.m. The Rev. N. L. Otterstad will officiate and burial will be in Arendahl Lutheran Cemetery.

The former Julia Bakken, she was born in Oslo Norway, Oct 13, 1877, and came to the United States in 1880 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Knute Bakken. She resided in rural areas here until moving to Rushford in 1929.

Her husband, Andrew Olness, has been dead 40 years. Surviving are: Two sons, Norman Olness, Peterson, and Conrad Olness, La Crosse; two daughters, Mrs. Selma Haslerud, Rushford, and Mrs. Orville (Judith) Strande, Winona; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Markegard, Rushford; Mrs. Leander Twedt, Farmington; Mrs. A. J. Jordahl, Willmar, and Mrs. Anna Knutson Chicago; two brothers, Carl Bakken, Faribault, and Alfred Bakken, Rochester, and six grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Jensen Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock at the Rushford Lutheran church for Mrs. Julia Olness, 78 years of age, who passed away early Thursday morning from a heart attack. Mrs. Olness had been in failing health for some time, but had been able to be up part of the time right up to the day preceding her death.

Mrs. Julia Bakken Olness, was born in Oslo, Norway, October 13, 1887 and came to the United States with her parents Knute and Barbara Bakken, in 1880. She was united in marriage to Andrew Olness who preceded her in death forty years ago.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Selma Haslerud of Rushford and Mrs. Orville Strande (Judith) of Winona; two sons, Norman of Peterson and Conrad Olness of La Crosse; Four sisters, Mrs. A. J. Jordahl of Willmar, Mrs. Anna Knutson of Chicago, Mrs. Mary Markegard of Rushford and Mrs. Leander Twedt of Farmington; two brothers, Carl Bakken, Faribault and Alfred Bakken of Rochester and size grandchildren.

The Rev. N. L. Otterstad officiated at the afternoon service and the prayer service Sunday evening at the Jensen Funeral Parlors. During the afternoon service Rev. Otterstad read several of Mrs. Olness favorite passage of Poetry and Mrs. Leonard Skaalen sang her favorite hymns. Interment was made at the Arendahl Lutheran cemetery. The pall-bearers were Martin Laumb, Roy James, Swen Swensen, Clarence Bremmer, Peter Peterson and Pete Gaustad.
