Verna L. Larson
HOUSTON, Minn. - Verna L. Larson, 82, of Houston died March 7, 2003, at Valley View Nursing Home.
She was born May 5, 1920, in Money Creek, Minn., to Edward and Emma (Buchholz) McElmury. She is survived by her husband, Carroll (Cy) Larson of Houston; daughters, Barbara (David) Guimond of Bloomington, Minn., and Elizabeth (Dennis) Tracy of Venice, Fla.; and daughters of her heart, Phyllis Egland of Rochester, Minn., and Lois (Ivan) McElhiney of La Crescent, Minn.; three grandchildren, Christopher Daellenbach of Boise, Idaho, Ryan Tracy of Gainsville, Fla., and Emily Tracy of Columbia, Mo.; and two brothers, Harry McElmury of Lakeville, Minn., and Lester McElmury of Lewiston, Minn.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James and Alfred McElmury; and three sisters, Dorothy McElmury, Hazel (Art) Ladewig and Florence (Harold) Evans.
Verna and Cy were married in 1943 in Milwaukee, Wis. They have lived in Houston since 1950. She was actively involved all her life in the Money Creek United Methodist Church and served as treasurer and Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and was active with the United Methodist Women. She worked for many years at Skifton's Department Store in Houston.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at Money Creek United Methodist Church, with a private burial service at a later date at Choice Cemetery, Choice, Minn. An opportunity for sharing memories will be included in the service. Arrangements made by the Cremation Society of Minnesota.
Memorials to the Money Creek United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers are preferred.
