Carroll 'Cy' R. Larson
HOUSTON, Minn. ? Carroll (Cy) R. Larson, 88, of Houston died Jan. 1, 2004, at Valley View Nursing Home, Houston.
He was born July 14, 1915, in Mabel, Minn., to Oliver and Helen (Richardson) Larson.
He is survived by daughters Barbara (David Guimond) Larson of Bloomington, Minn., and Elizabeth (Dennis) Tracy of Venice, Fla.; three grandchildren, Christopher Daellenbach of Boise, Idaho, Ryan Tracy of Antioch, Calif., and Emily Tracy of Columbia, Mo.; and one sister, Verna (Norvel) Burrison of Decorah, Iowa.
Carroll was preceded in death by his wife, Verna (McElmury), his parents and six brothers.
Carroll served in the U.S. Air Force from 1941 to 1943 and was stationed in Riverside, Calif. Cy and Verna were married in 1943 in Milwaukee. They operated a general store in Money Creek, Minn., while Cy attended Winona State College.
He taught at several rural consolidated schools in Houston and Winona counties and at Faribault, Minn. In 1950, Cy became a rural letter carrier and served 30 years. He was actively involved all of his life in Money Creek United Methodist Church and served on the board as a Sunday school teacher, lay leader and, together with his wife, as youth leaders for many years.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Money Creek United Methodist Church with a private burial service at a later date at the Choice Cemetery, Choice, Minn. An opportunity for sharing memories will be included in the service.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, at Heritage Court Apartments attached to the east side of Valley View Nursing Home, 110 Henderson St., Houston.
Arrangements made by Minnesota Cremation Society.
Memorials are preferred to Money Creek United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
