John Ryerson with Edison 35 years

John L. Ryerson, 407 W. Torrance Ave., recently celebrated his 35th service anniversary with Commonwealth Edison Company. He is a marketing engineer at the company's southern division district headquarters in Streator.

Ryerson and his wife, Wanda, have been married 29 years. They have a daughter, Mrs. Peter R. Safiran, and a son, Michael, There are also two grandchildren.

A Navy veteran of World War II, Ryerson has many interests including memberships in the Elks, the Moose, Rotary Club, National Rifle Association, Pontiac Sportsmen's club and the American Legion.

STREATOR - John L. Ryerson, 81, of 209 W. Sixth St., Streator, formerly of Pontiac and Cornell, died at 7:55 p.m. Sunday (June 11, 2000) at St. Mary's Hospital, Streator.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator, the Rev. Tim Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Streator. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Ryerson was born on April 2, 1919, at Pontiac, a son of John B. and Mabel Beaman Ryerson. He married Hannah "Wanda" Ball on Aug. 24, 1945, at Cleveland, Ohio. She died Feb. 11, 1980.

He is survived by one daughter, Cathy (Pete) Safiran, Shipshewana, Ind.; one son, Michael (Kim) Ryerson, Wilmington; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

John married Hannah Wanda BALL on 24 Aug 1945 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, USA. (Hannah Wanda BALL was born on 6 Oct 1918 and died on 12 Feb 1980.)
