Lauren Amdahl, 85, of Charter House, Rochester, a retired education administrator, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, in the health care center at Charter House.
He was born Oct. 8, 1914, at Tawney, located between Mabel and Rushford. He grew up in Mabel and attended Mabel schools. He attended Luther College in Decorah for a year, received a bachelor's degree from Winona State University in 1935, and later a master's from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. On June 10, 1939, he married Mary Jane Weisman in Winona. During his career in education administration, he worked in a number of Minnesota and California communities.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jim (Jan) of Chandler, Ariz., and Steve of Lake Oswego, Ore; two grandchildren and a brother, Geryl of Roseville, Minn.
A memorial service was held on Monday at St. John's Catholic Church. The body has been donated to the Mayo Foundation for medical research.
