MRS. GEORGE P. HASLERUD

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and 2:00 o'clock at the Peterson Evangelical Lutheran church for Mrs. George P. Haslerud. Mrs. Haslerud died Saturday evening, June 27 at 7:25 p.m., at her home, at the age of 86 years, 6 months, and 12 days. She has been bedridden for a week and died of old age and pneumonia. Mr. A. I. Kvamme officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Gunild Maria Haslerud was born December 15, 1855 at Eisberg, Norway, which is 35 miles from Oslo. She came to America with her parents when she was 12 years old. She came to Winona by train and rode with a farmer from there to Grand Meadow, where she made her home for tow or three years. Later she moved to Peterson, where she has lived since.

On May 3, 1876, she was married to George Peterson Haslerud. He was the son of Peter P. Haslerud, the first settler of Peterson. They were united in marriage by Rev. A. E Boyum. Mr. Haslerud died April 14, 1923.

Survivors are her three sons, Peter, John, and Albert, all of Peterson; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Benson of Peterson; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Two sons died when young.

Obituary For Mrs. Gunhild Haslerud

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Peterson Evangelical Lutheran church for Mrs. Gunhild Maria Wethe Haslerud, wife of Geo. Peterson Haslerud.

Mrs. Haslerud was born in Eisberg, Norway, 35 miles from Oslo, Norway, Dec. 15th, 1855. She came to America with her folks at the age of twelve years. They came to Winona by train and from there to Grand Meadow by team. She was baptized in Norway be Rev. Holtz and was confirmed in Bear Creed Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran church, in the country near Grand Meadow, Minn., August 6th, 1871 by Rev. J. A. Thorson. They lived in Grand Meadow about fiver years and then moved to Peterson.

She was married May 3, 1876 by Rev. A. E. Boyum to George Peterson Haslerud, son of Peter Peterson Haslerud, the first settler here. Her husband died April 14, 1923.

Five boys were born to this union: Peter, John and Albert, all living in Peterson, and two who died in infancy. George died at the age of two years and George Clarence died at the age of three years. Ten grand children , one great grand child and one sister, Mrs. T. R. Benson (Minnie) survive. Four brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

She was taken sick June 20th and died June 27, 1942, at 7:25 P. M. She was an active member of the church and the Ladies' Aid. Interment was made at the Peterson Ev. Luth Cemetery by A. I. Kvamme. The pall bearers were Oscar Ensberg, Oliver Haslerud, Leland Benson, Arthur T. Halvorson, Edwin Halvorson and Ole L. Olness.

Julia married George Peter HASLERUD, son of Peter Peterson HASLERUD and Cornelia Aslaksdatter TEIGEN, on 3 May 1876 in Arendahl, Fillmore County, MN.1 2 (George Peter HASLERUD was born on 10 Nov 1853 in Peterson, Fillmore County, MN, baptized on 29 Aug 1856 in Rushford 8 and died on 14 Apr 1923 in Peterson, Fillmore County, MN 9.) The cause of his death was Nephritis Chronic Myocarditis, Cerebral Hemorrhage.
