H. Ronald "Jake" Dahl, Sr., 92, of Mohall, N.D., died Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at a Mohall nursing home.
He was born May 20, 1918, in Fillmore County, rural Mabel, to Henry R. and Ada (Paulson) Dahl.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army and was decorated with the Bronze Star for bravery. He was a member of the American Legion for 66 years and a lifetime VFW member.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Edna (Brenna) Dahl; a daughter, Rochelle (Chet) Mottershead of Rocky Mount, N.C; a son, H. Ronald (Susan) Dahl, Jr., of Mohall; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, DeLone Carpenter of Bloomington, Minn.
Ronald was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Eiken and Alta Spande.
A celebration of life service was held on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the Good Samaritan Society in Mohall. Burial will be in the Choice Cemetery of rural Mabel at a later date.
