MT. VERNON- Funeral services for Lewis E. Scott, 79, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Salem Lutheran Church with the Rev. Donald Hanson officiating.

The body will lie in state at the Milliken Funeral Home Chapel Thursday from 7-9 p.m.

Mr. Scott was born July 7, 1885 in Aurora County to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Scott. He attended business school in Chicago then worked in the store at Storia and in Mr. Vernon. On March 22, 1911 he married Clara Emerson at Riverside, Ill., and they farmed north of Mt. Vernon. She died in 1930.

In 1915 Mr. Scott started the Scott Supply Co. which celebrated 50 years in business this spring. He served several terms as mayor and was a member of the city council and of the Mr. Vernon Tuesday Club.

On Dec. 31, 1935 at Yankon he married Anna B. Hooker, who died in 1964.

Mr. Scott died June 29 at a Mitchell hospital.

Survivors include one son, Wallace, Mt. Vernon; tow daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Marian) Taplin, Pontiac, Ill.; and Mrs. Kenneth (Lila) Walker, Sioux Falls; 13 grand children; six great grandchildren; three brothers Andrew and Carl, Tacoma, Wash.; and Hanley, Storia; and two sisters, Mrs. O. M. Lundy, Mt. Vernon, and Esther Steiber, Storia.

He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and a sister.

Lewis married Clara Lillian EMERSON, daughter of Samuel EMERSON and Gertrude WICKS, on 22 Mar 1911 in Riverside, Cook County, Illinois, USA.¹ (Clara Lillian EMERSON was born on 27 Jun 1887 in Riverside, Cook County, Illinois, USA ² and died on 19 Jun 1930 in Davison County, South Dakota, USA ³.)
