Services were at 10 a.m. today at Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, Kankakee. The Rev. Beverly Marshall- Goodell officiated.
Burial was in Bonfield Cemetery.

He was born June 14, 1936 in Union Hill, the son of Hobart and Edith Kimmelshae Hertz.
He lived in Arkansas for many years, returning to Aroma Park 10 years ago. He resided with his friends, the Taylor family. His wife, the former Sharon Berns, whom he married June 14, 1959, and one son and daughter, Dennis and Janet Hertz, also reside with the Taylors. Also surviving are three sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Howard Zaeske of Batavia, Lois and Don Jenkins of Bourbonnais and Shirley and Kenneth Burch of Herscher; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn and Pat Hertz of Chebanse, Orville and Myrthel Hertz of Terre Haute, Ind. and Eldon and Rita Hertz of Kankakee; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are one son, Michael Owen Hertz, and one sister, Arlene Hertz.
Mr. Hertz worked for 10 years in the maintenance department at A.O. Smith Corporation.
He was a member of the Aroma Park United Methodist Church.
