• Obituary, 1932, Story County, Iowa, USA. Mrs. O. M. Rierson

Mrs. O. M. Rierson was born in Saude, Norway, October 30, 1864 and passed away at her home in Roland, October 11, 1932, being nearly 68 years of age at the time of her death.

Barbro Anderson came to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ove Anderson, in 1870. They lived for a short time three miles southwest of Roland, moving a few years later to the Anderson homestead five miles south of Roland. Here she spent most of her early life until her marriage to Ole M. Rierson, February 25, 1892. They then moved to a farm east of Nevada where they lived for two years, moving later to McCallsburg and after two years there to their home near Sioux Rapids, where they lived until 1905. The family then moved to Roland and that has been their home practically all the time with the exception of five years spent in Story City.

Mrs. Rierson had been in poor health for several years, but was always a patient sufferer. About a month ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis, but after that was able to come down stairs and sit up until a couple of weeks ago when she was forced to stay in bed on account of a bad knee and other complications. However, her condition was no worse until Monday, and on Monday night she suffered an internal hemorrhage which caused her death. She passed to the Great Beyond peacefully at 3 a. m. Tuesday.

She is survived by her husband and one daughter, Mrs. O. M. Thompson. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. John Egenes of Renwick, Nellie and Ellen Anderson of Minneapolis, and five brothers, O. B. and O. O. Anderson of Roland, J. O. Anderson of Story City, M. O. Anderson of Roland and J. T. Anderson of Nevada. Three brothers have died in recent years, Andrew, Thomas and Axel Anderson

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the home at 1:30 and from Bergen church at 2:00 o'clock., Rev. M. O. Sumstad conducting the services. Otto J. Hanson san, "Den Store Hvide Flok Vi Se," and the Ladies Chorus sang, "Face to Face."

Barbara married Ole Mikal RIERSON, son of Asgaut Reierson GISMARVIK and Marthe Olsdatter HETLAND, on 25 Sep 1892 in Roland, Story County, Iowa, USA.1 (Ole Mikal RIERSON was born on 16 Jan 1862 in Avaldsnes, Rogaland, Norway, baptized on 30 Mar 1862 in Avaldsnes, Rogaland, Norway 2 and died on 15 Mar 1938 in Iowa, USA.)
