Roy Reader -- Morris
Roy L. Reader, 86, of Morris, died Friday (June 23, 2006) at Walnut Grove Nursing Home in Morris. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes Ltd., Braidwood Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Dennis Brooks will officiate.
Interment will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery in Braceville.
Mr. Reader was a lifelong farmer. He was born Jan. 11, 1920, in Old Mazon, the son of George and Mildred Brooks Reader. He served under General Patton during World War II in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Debbie Reader of Gardner, Gary and Cynthia Reader of Joliet; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Rita Oakland of Fairbury, Wanda Peterson of Walnut, Viola Schumaker of Coal City, Shirley Weaver of Morris; and two brothers, Kenneth Reader of Plano and George Reader of Coal City.
Deceased are two sons, Gerald and Troy Reader; and one sister, Vivian Burke.
