Kenneth Folkers Chenoa- Kenneth Folkers, 85, of Chenoa, IL passed away 7:20 p.m. on October 2, 2009 at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal, Illinois. He was born on December 9, 1923 in Panola, IL the oldest son of John Ralph and Sylvia Kreighauser Folkers. He married Christine Ryerson on September 1, 1946 in rural Pontiac, IL. She survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Constance (Charles) Webber of Westchester, IL; Cynthia Baumgardner of Minonk, IL; Eloise (Ralph) Foote of Bloomington, IL; Carolyn (Peter) Roth of Bloomington, IL; thirteen grandchildren, Kevin (Aimee) Webber, Stephanie (Steve) Heerdt, Margaret (Joel) Anderson, Katherine Zimmer, Christine (Thomas) Johnson, Jill (Timothy) Bark, Daniel Foote, Timothy Foote, Anna Roth, Amanda (Jonathan) Zietlow, Lucille (Micah) Loucks, Michael Roth, Jacob Roth, and five great-grandchildren, Ashley Roth, Abigail Johnson, Wesley Johnson, Lilianna Webber, and Izabella Webber. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leon Folkers. Kenneth worked as a farmer in the Minonk area from 1946-1987. He was a member of Salem church where he was a Sunday school treasurer, teacher and superintendent. He served on the Salem Trustee Board and sang in a men's quartet. As a member of Gideon's International and the Livingston County Gideon's, he was a local treasurer and church speaker. Kenneth was a member of numerous boards including the Peace Committee for the Mennonite Central Committee, the Mennonite Hospital Board, the East Central Illinois Health System Agency Board, the Flanagan Elevator Board, and the Livingston County Board. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Salem Church, Gridley. Rev. Steve Estes will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4-8 p.m. at the Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso and one hour before the service on Saturday at his church. Burial will be in Waldo Township Cemetery in Gridley, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem Church 4925 E 1250 N Gridley, IL; Meadows Mennonite Home 24588 Church St. Chenoa, IL; or Livingston County Gideon's % Mr. Dean C.
