• Obituary, 1981, Illinois, USA. Kenneth R. Hawthorne, 58, a farmer in the Gibson City area for 26 years, died at 12:45 a.m. Monday 11-30-1981 at Gibson Community Hospital. His funeral was at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gibson City United Methodist Church, the Rev. James Bortell officiating. Burial was in Drummer Twp Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were John Summers, Tom Lemons, Chester Culbertson, Wilber Schertz, Oscar Long, and Bruce Cothern. Active pallbearers were William Swearingen, Phil Hawthorne, Hugh Kirkwood, Kenneth Meredith, William DeWall, and Earl Birkey. Masonic rites were held at Lamb Funeral Home. Mr. Hawthorne was born 9-26-1923 at Mansfield, a son of Alexander and Margaret Burgess Hawthorne. He married Margaret L. Fasking 12-9-1945 at Gibson City. She died 9-23-1970. On 12-9-1972 he married Cecelia M. Anderson at Gibson City. She died 5-28-1981. Surviving are a daughter, Suzanne Pitz, East Moline; two sons, Steven of Gibson City and Sidney of Foosland; two stepdaughters, Patricia Scoggin of Virginia Beach, Va. and Sandra Lee Rollins of LaFayette, La.; a stepson, Roger Don Anderson, Muscatine, Iowa; four sisters, Annabelle Douglas of Saybrook, Martha Kumler of Champaign, Velma Heidewald of Bloomington, and Lois Parrett of Mahomet; two brothers, Cecil of Saybrook and Francis of Farmer City; seven grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. A brother preceded him in death. Mr. Hawthorne was a member of the Flying Farmers of America, Gibson City Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, Lions Club, Moose Lodge and Ford-Iroquois Farm Bureau. He was also a member of Gibson City United Methodist Church.

Kenneth married Cecelia Mae POPLETT, daughter of Lee L. POPLETT and Lelah Pauline COOPER, on 9 Dec 1945 in Gibson City, Ford County, Illinois, USA. (Cecelia Mae POPLETT was born on 1 Oct 1918 in Ford County, Illinois, USA and died on 23 May 1981 in Gibson City, Ford County, Illinois, USA.)
