Margaret F. (Margo) Rogers was born March 25, 1921 in Czechoslovakia and passed away September 19, 2009 in Tucson. She came to Masontown, PA as a very young child. She met her husband, Evan (Rog) Rogers in Manhattan, IL where she went to high school. They were married in 1944 shortly before he was sent to England with the Air Force. After WWII they were stationed at various bases in the U.S. and in Spain. Upon retirement in the mid 1970's they built a home in the foothills of Tucson. Margo enjoyed traveling, china painting, needlework, reading and having parties for their friends. She was very active with a group of wives of retired officers from the 303rd Bomb Wing from Davis Monthan AFB who had known each other since the 1950's. After she developed macular degeneration and could no longer see to do her other activities she made dozens of afghans and donated them to Sun Sounds of Tucson for their fundraisers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theresa and John Vaseaka and both her brothers, Charlie and Eddie. Survivors are her devoted husband, Rog; son, Ray and wife, Carole; granddaughter, Jackie and husband Chris, all of Tucson; grandson, Matt of FL; sister, Helen of Phoenix; step-grandson, Kelly wife, Shannon, their children, Lee and Cora of CO; sister-in-law, Jean of PA; her nieces and nephews, Bob, Margo Ann, Mike, Tricia and Bobbi and their families; two special friends, Jean Turner of Tucson who she has known 75 years and Nancy Holzshu of CT who was like a daughter to her; and many other friends in Tucson and around the country. The family wishes to thank the staffs of Friendship Villa and Heartland Hospice for their loving care of Margo and of all of us during her final months. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to Sun Sounds of Tucson, 7290 E Broadway, #166, Tucson 85710 or Southern Arizona Association for the Visually Impaired, 3767 E. Grant, Tucson 85716-2935 or a charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Phillip's In The Hills Episcopal Church, 4440 N. Campbell, Tucson. A reception will immediately follow the service. Arrangements entrusted to ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel (742-7901).
