The death of Mrs. John Gorder was a shock to the people of Peterson and community. She was taken seriously ill Saturday, Sept. 22, and the following Tuesday the 25th, she passed away while on the way to a La Crosse hospital.
Inger Olivia (nee Olness) Gorder was born in Fillmore County April 21, 1875. She was married Sept. 10, 1894 to John Gorder. To this union twelve children were born, ten of whom are living. She lived practically her whole life in this community. Besides her husband, she is survived by ten children, eight grand children, two brothers, two sisters and her father, Lars Olness of Peterson. All were present at the funeral.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, October 1st, in the home near Peterson at 1 o'clock and in the church in Peterson at 2 o'clock, Rev. M. O. Wee officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Arendahl Cemetery.
