Ralph Arnold DOBLAR

• Obituary, 2011. Loving husband and father Ralph Arnold Doblar, 89, passed away Aug. 3, 2011, at his home in La Crescent, Minn. Ralph "King" Doblar was born at home Sept. 25, 1921, to John and Galena (Jore) Doblar. He attended Money Creek School until taking over the family farm at 16 years of age when his father passed away. He married Thora Lou Eiken on Oct. 20, 1950, and they made their home on the family farm in Money Creek. While farming, Ralph also drove the school bus for 13 years. In 1975, he quit farming and began working as a custodial engineer in the La Crescent school system. Ralph retired in 1980 due to ill health. In 2000, Ralph and Thora sold the family farm and relocated to La Crescent.

Ralph was a member of Money Creek Methodist Church, where he held numerous offices. He also served on the school board, Money Creek town board and was president of the Money Creek Cemetery Association for many years.

Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Thora on June 28, 2011; as well as one brother, two sisters and one grandson. He is survived in death by his four children, Mary Jane Dankowski of Carlsbad, Calif., Sue (Greg) McDonald of Duluth, Minn., Scott Doblar of Winona and Lisa Doblar of Minneapolis; sister, Hazel Olstad of Rushford; grandchildren, Christopher Dankowski of Oceanside, Calif., Brooke Dankowski of San Diego, Bryan McDonald of Duluth, Megan McDonald of Portland, Ore., and Benjamin Doblar of Minneapolis.

For those of us who had the privilege of knowing him, Ralph will live in our memories, in our hearts and through the country road near his birthplace that bears his name.

There will be a memorial service for Ralph at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service in Houston, with the Rev. Mark Bengston officiating. Burial will be in Money Creek Cemetery
