Looney Valley

Mr. and Mrs Eiken and daughter, Judith, of Yucatan visited at Albert Britson's Sunday.

Andrew Britson, one of the pioneer settlers of this valley died Friday evening. He was past seventy-five years of age and leaves to mourn his loss two sons and one daughter, Messers. Albert and Gustave of Looney Valley and Mrs. Ole Eiken of Yucatan. A large number of neighbors and friends followed him to his last resting place. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Student Hangland.

Andrew Britson, one of the pioneer settlers in Looney Valley, Houston Township, was born in Ringsager, near Christiania, Norway. He was twenty-two years old when he came to America and located in La Crosse Valley, La Crosse county, Wis. After a residence there of a year or two he removed to Looney Valley, Houston township, this county, where he settled on a farm, and continued in agricultural pursuits until his death in 1907. Mr. Britson married Bessie Johnson, a native of Telemarken, Norway, their marriage taking place in Houston county. She died some years before her husband. They were the parents of four children, Lena, Albert T, Gustaf and Carolina.


Andrew married Bessie JOHNSON between 1853 and 1858 in America. (Bessie JOHNSON was born about 1830 in Telemark, Norway and died between 1880 and 1895.)
