PONTIAC - Gerald L. Ryerson, 82, of Pontiac, died at 3:58 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 21, 2009) at Asta Care Center, Pontiac.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac, with the Rev. Lucia Oerter of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in South Side Cemetery, Pontiac. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial gifts may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Pontiac. Gerald was born July 28, 1927, at Graymont, a son of Thomas G. and Ella F. (Wagner) Ryerson. He married Catherine Shephard on Aug. 7, 1949, at Pontiac. She died April 1, 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas (Deb) Ryerson, Pontiac, and Frank (Thomasine) Bockman, Aledo; and four grandchildren, Adam (Kassandra) Ryerson, Breigh (Luke) Siliskie, Ed Bockman and Catherine Bockman.
Gerald was educated in Pontiac schools and was a foreman in maintenance mechanics at Interlake Steel Co., Pontiac.
Gerald served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946 and again from 1952 to 1954.
He was a member of the Pontiac American Legion, former Pontiac Moose Lodge, the Pontiac Sportsman's Club and a life member of the NRA.
