• Obituary: Hantge Funeral Chapels, 2010, McLeod County, Minnesota, USA. Nina "Adeline" Plowman was born October 13, 1912, in Willmar, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Richard and Bertha (Rasmusson) Rierson. Adeline was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She attended Whittier elementary school in Kandiyohi, Minnesota and then transferred to Willmar High School for junior and senior year. Adeline was chosen to attend Teachers Normal Training School in Willmar, an intensive one-year training which included student teaching. Adeline taught school for two years at a rural schoolhouse in Kandiyohi County. She later moved to St. Paul, in 1936, and worked for the superintendent of Anchor Hospital as a governess for his daughter; she was hired because of her teaching background. Adeline met Jake Plowman in St. Paul, Minnesota and they were united in marriage on October 27, 1941, when he was home on furlough from the army during World War II. After the war they lived in Willmar and Waconia, Minnesota and later settled in Hutchinson, Minnesota in 1953. This marriage was blessed with two children, Scott and Greer. Adeline and Jake shared 41 years of marriage, until Jake passed away on November 17, 1982. Adeline was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. She was a bible study leader and on the church altar guild, both for more than forty years. Adeline was also a congregational representative to Lutheran Social Service and taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She was active in the GFWC Women's Club of Hutchinson for more than forty years and held many offices, including President. She was also a Girl Scout and Brownie leader for many years. Her family remembers how she enjoyed singing and playing the piano even up to a few days before her death. Adeline loved cooking and baking; she always made things from scratch and was somewhat obsessive with housekeeping. She also loved reading comics and clipping interesting articles out of the newspaper. Adeline lived in her house up until the last few months. She passed away on Monday, April 5, 2010, at the Burns Manor Nursing Home in Hutchinson at the age of 97 years. Blessed be her memory. Adeline is survived by her: Son, Scott Plowman and his wife, Judy of Hutchinson, MN; Daughter, Greer Scriver and her husband, Steve of Eden Prairie, MN; 4 Grandchildren, Katharine and Edwin Plowman, Jacob and Eric Scriver; Many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
