Esther A. Hellerud, 93, Halstad, formerly Ada, Minn., died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, in Halstad Living Center.

Esther Rockstad was born Jan. 7, 1911, in Grandin, N.D. She grew up and attended school near Ada. She married James Hellerud on March 23, 1929, in Ada. She worked at Bowyer's Grocery in Ada before moving to California in 1956 and later retiring. He died in 1983 and she returned to Ada. In 1995 she entered the nursing home.

She is survived by a son, Chuck (Pat), Carson, Calif., a daughter, Pat (Glen) Benesh, Ada; three sisters, Helen Million, Roodhouse, Ill., Dorothy Bartz, Harriet (Lawrence) Merkins, both Ada; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Sunday from 3 to 6 in Fredrikson Funeral Home, Ada, and Monday from 1 to 2 in Grace Lutheran Church, Ada.

Funeral: Monday at 2 in the church.

Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery.

Esther married James Teman HELLERUD, son of Charles HELLERUD and Anne Sofie Jonsdatter AARSTAD, on 23 Mar 1929 in Ada, Norman County, Minnesota, USA.¹ (James Teman HELLERUD was born on 28 Apr 1907 in Hegne, Norman County, Minnesota, USA,² died on 14 Oct 1983 in Carson, Los Angeles County, California, USA ³ and was buried in Ada, Norman County, Minnesota, USA.)
