• Obituary: Daily Citizen, 2004, Iowa, USA. ZEARING, IOWA/ DODGEVILLE - John Thomas Hill, age 69, of Zearing, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at Israel Family Hospice House. John Thomas Hill was born on Oct. 29, 1934, in Dodgeville, the son of Virgil and Mauriel (Erickson) Hill. He graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1952, in Mineral Point. He attended college in Platteville. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 until 1958. Then he joined his father in the cheese factory business in Zearing, Iowa, in 1958. He worked for the state of Iowa as a dairy inspector and a milk rating officer for 22 years. He served on the Zearing City Council, adjustment board, and park board. He was also past president of the Iowa Association for Milk, Food and Environmental Sanitarians Inc. John loved sports. He was a devoted Green Bay Packers and Iowa State Cyclones fan. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hill of Zearing; two sons, Brad (Pam) Hill of Monroe, and Rod (Julie) Hill of Keota, Iowa; four grandchildren, Wade, Ryan, Grant and Megan; and two sisters, Dorothy Lindgren and Myrty Lou (Gene) Brazee, both of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at BETHANY LUTHERAN CHURCH in McCallsburg, Iowa. Burial will be in Lincoln Township Cemetery in Zearing, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the FREDREGILL FUNERAL HOME in Zearing, Iowa, with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
