• Obituary: The Tribune, Ames, 2003, Iowa, USA. Russell Dean Reed, 85, of Webster City and formerly of Radcliffe, died Sunday of cancer at Hamilton County Hospital in Webster City. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's United Methodist Church in Radcliffe, with the Rev. Dana Williams officiating. Burial will be in Radcliffe Cemetery.
Russell Dean Reed was born Sept. 10, 1917, in Halloway, Minn., the son of Ory and Ella (Rierson) Reed. He graduated from Radcliffe High School in 1938. He married Ruth Amundson June 24, 1939, near Radcliffe. He worked as a farmer, and owned and operated the Mid-Town Motel and Apartments for 32 years. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Radcliffe, Methodist Men and the Garden Club. He was a Youth Fellowship leader, Master Mason, Scout leader and 4-H assistant leader.
He is survived by three daughters, Kathryn Cobeen of Clear Lake, Diane Schwartz of Hubbard and Cynthia Mathein of Webster City; one son, Kevin Reed of Webster City; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Ruby Abramson of Prairie Farm, Wis., Laureen Spitler of Webster City, Hazel Gelhaus of Radcliffe and Elsie Nehring of Owasa.
She was preceded in death by his wife; one granddaughter; and one sister.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Boeke Funeral Home in Radcliffe.
Boeke Funeral Home in Radcliffe is in charge of arrangements.
