• Obituary: Post-Bulletin, Rochester, 2011, Fillmore County, MN. LANESBORO \emdash The funeral for Dorman Berekvam, 84, of Whalan, will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Whalan Lutheran Church in Whalan, with Pastor Patricia Hinkie officiating. Burial will be in the Whalan Lutheran Cemetery.
Mr. Berekvam died Monday, March 21, 2011 at his home in Whalan.
Dorman Evan Berekvam was born in La Crosse, Wis., on May 28, 1926, to Iver and Dorthea (Dammen) Berekvam. Dorman was in the Army from 1944 until 1947 where he was stationed in Czechoslovakia and Germany. He married Lois Ilene Benson on Sept. 6, 1952, in Whalan. Dorman was self-employed as a carpenter.
He was a member of Whalan Lutheran Church, the Whalan American Legion, and Sons of Norway. He enjoyed woodworking, watching wildlife, feeding the birds and squirrels, and mowing grass.
Survivors include his wife, Lois of Whalan; three sons, Rodney (Deb) Berekvam of Rochester, Randy Berekvam of Lanesboro, and Rory Berekvam of Whalan; one daughter, Rhonda (Jerry) Ebertowksi of Burnsville; five grandchildren, Wyatt, Ashley, Ryan, Shane, Landon; and three great-grandchildren, Jaden, Roeland and Devon. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 26, one hour before the service at the Whalan Lutheran Church. Military Funeral Honors will be provided by the Whalan American Legion.
Johnson-Riley Funeral Home of Lanesboro is handling the arrangements.
