The funeral for Arland L. Olness was Sept. 27 at Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville, the Rev. Ron Allen officiated. Burial was in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
Mr. Olness, 81, of Stewartville, died Thursday. (Sept. 22, 2005) at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was from June 9, 1924, in Peterson. After graduating from Peterson High School in 1942, he worked as a printer in Rushford and Winona.
On Sept. 4, 1955, he married Betty Bratberg at Highland Prairie Church in rural Rushford. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Peterson and moved to Stewartville in 1965. He began working at the Stewartville Star and was also a longtime employee at Custom Printing in Rochester. After retiring in 1984, he worked part time at IBM in Rochester. He was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville and an avid sports fan.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Dawn (Kevin) Warren of Winona, Debby (Dave) Turnquist of Eyota and Deanne (Kevin) Brossard of West Concord; one son Douglas (robin) of Rochester; 21 grandchildren; and two-great-grandchildren.
