This week we are morning the loss of a dear friend and esteemed citizen, Mrs. Albert Olness, who passed away Saturday evening, February 10th, at the Buena Vista Sanatorium, where she had been the last year because of her fatal illness.

Alice Amanda Bye was a daughte[r] of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ole Bye and was born September 8, 1889, at Peterson, where she lived her life. She was confirmed by the Rev. Arneson, then serving Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. On December 9, 1914, she married Albert Olness, the late Rev. Sevig performing the ceremony.

Two children blessed this union, Mrs. Forrest Paulson (Sylvia) and Arland, who with their father, are left to mourn a devoted wife and mother. Two sisters also survive, Mrs. Clarence Worden, (Olga) of Beaver Dam, Wis., and Mrs. Jack Vis (Palma) of Milwaukee, Wis. One brother died at the age of 5 years. It is strange to note that both Mrs. Olness and her mother, Mrs. Bye, reached the same age, 55 years and 5 months.

Her life was one of service - to her parents, whom she cared for in their last illness, to her family that she cared for so lovingly, and to friends and neighbors at all times.

Her devotion to her church was an example of true Christian living, as was shown by her regular attendance at services, by her work in the Ladies Aid, and also her work in the Sunday School as a teacher. We shall miss her and our sympathy goes to her dear ones, but never wish her back, as we are assured that she is with her Lord, whom she loved and served.

Funeral services were conducted in Our Saviour's Church Thursday Afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with the preliminary services at the home at 1:30, with the Rev. P. C. Hiller officiating. The pall bearers were Harold Olson, Oscar Asleson, Carl Johnson, Stener Olson, Malter Gullickson and Ernest Johnson. Special music was presented by Mr. and Mrs. Wm. A. Smaby, Ida and Clenora Hjelle, and Mrs. Floyd Glenna. Burial was made in the church cemetery.

Those from out of town who attended the service were: Mrs. John Vis, Milwaukee; Mrs. A. O. Boyum and Ole J. Olson of Lanesboro; Mrs. George Haslerud a, Mrs. John Markegaard, Mr. and Mrs. Art Paulson, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Asleson and Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Smaby of Rushford.

Alice married Albert N. OLNESS, son of Nels Olsen ØLNES and Solvei Olsdatter BØYUM, on 9 Dec 1914 in Rushford, Fillmore County, MN. (Albert N. OLNESS was born on 9 Feb 1879 in Rushford, Fillmore County, MN 2 and died on 17 Mar 1961 in Winona County, MN 3.) The cause of his death was cancer.
