  Noted events in his life were:

• Reference: Curtiss Evangelical Norwegian Lutheran Church, 1905, Clark County, WI. It 1905, Rev. T. S. Reishus of Stanley, was called as pastor. It was then that a disastrous tornado completely destroyed the church. It was a heavy loss indeed as there was no insurance on the building. Rev. Reishus encouraged the congregation with these words: "Therefore, let us say with Job: 'The Lord gave, the Lord took, the name of the Lord be praised!' " Plans were made to rebuild. In the meantime services were held at the German Lutheran Church in Curtiss.

The new brick church was completed and dedicated in 1907. Rev. Reishus served the congregation continuously for twelve years, being forced to retire due to ill health. However, he resided on a farm north of Curtiss and he continued to be a member of the congregation. His son, Lysander Reishus, organized the Luther League in 1907.

Rev. S. T. Reishus [T. S. Reishus], pastor of the Norwegian Lutheran congregation in Stanley, Wis., and one of the best known Lutheran ministers in the Northwest, died suddenly Sunday afternoon, May 28, while making an address at an golden wedding.

Rev. Reishus had just risen to address the hundred guests gathered for the occasion, when he reeled and fell to the floor. He died almost immediately.

Rev. Torjus Sondoreson Reishus was born at Koshkonong, Wis., on Dec. 1, 1847, the son of Sondre Olson Reishus and wife Ingeborg Torjusen Kaasi.

For a number of years the family were residents here, the father owning the farm now owned and occupied by M. O. Kjos, just west of town. When a young man T. S. Reishus taught school in this vicinity, after graduating at Luther College, which he attended form 1866 to 1871. For several years he was the local agent for the C. L. Colman Lumber company. He was graduated form the Luther Seminary in 1885, since when he has been in the ministry.

The Rev. Mr. Reishus was married in 1877 to Ellen Pauline Brunn, who passed away about two years ago. One son, Knute Reishus, is superintendent of schools at Mabel, and another, Rev. Lysander Reishus, is pastor of a church at Velva, N. D.

The deceased was a cousin of O. E. Reishus, Mrs. M.O. Kjos, the Misses Emma and Clara Reishus, Mrs. A. T. Kjos, Rushford; Mrs. C. Q. Johnson of Peterson and Mrs. Wangness of Cottonwood. He had visited here several time in the past few years and is know to many.


Torjus married Ellen Pauline BRUNN on 2 Oct 1877 in Fillmore County, MN.1 (Ellen Pauline BRUNN was born ca 1850 and died about 1920.)
