Giant like strength, above medium height, quite rich because of the great timber lands. He was strict and severe, but often good hearted. He had a stubborn disposition. He was strong in intellect.

He could figure in his head very easily. He helped to survey and divide some of the mountain lands that were held in earlier years in common with all of the people. Because of his strength he was the only one who could command the respect of his huseman, Aasen, who was a great fighter. He probably fought in the Swedish War of 1814.
