James E. Daup, loving husband, father, and friend to many, lost a valiant battle with cancer on 29 January 2006. Jim was born 18 February 1946 in Shelvy, Ohio. He graduated from Shelby High School, and attended Fenn College prior to entering the Air Force initially in 1966. He served a short stint in California and Southeast Asia before being honorably discharged. He subsequently attended and graduated from Michigan State University in 1973, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. Jim earned his Masters Degree in 1975 from Troy State University. His Air Force career as an officer included, most notably, assignments in Turkey, Germany, Korea and the Pentagon, and culminated with his assignment as Chief of Supply for Headquarters Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. Upon retiring from the Air Force in the rank of Colonel in 1999, Jim joined Lockheed Martin Aeronautics to lead the Supply Team for the F-22 Raptor fighter aircraft. While at Lockheed, Jim built an innovative supply chain management team to effectively transition the F-22 Raptor from development, through production, and delivery to Air Force operational bases. Jim's outstanding leadership of critical milestones in the F-22 Raptor Program. Jim is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth Daup of Shelby, Ohio. He is survived by his wife Kilhyon Daup, of Acworth, Ga, and his daughter Shannon Carnifax, of Melbourne, FL. A memorial service will be held at the SouthCare Funeral Home, Marietta, Ga, on Thursday, 2 February 2006, at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the American Cancer Society. The Cremation Society of The SOUTH is in Charge of The Arrangements, 770-420-5557.
