Patricia Karzin Harnly, 75, of Fairborn, Ohio, formerly of Rock Island, Chicago and Lake Charles, La., died Monday, March 17, 2014, at her home after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease.
A service and luncheon will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at Two Rivers United Methodist Church, 1820 5th Ave., Rock Island. The body will be donated to Ohio State University to assist in the research of Parkinson's disease.
Patricia was born Feb. 28, 1939, in Rock Island to Leroy and Dorothy Radley Parr. She married Constantine Karzin on July 3, 1960, and later married Craig Harnly on July 19, 1979, in Denver, Colo.
Pat graduated from Rock Island High School in 1957 and attended Prairie State University in Chicago Heights, Ill.
Pat worked as a secretary to the late former Rock Island mayor, Sen. Morrie Muhleman. She also worked for the Rock Island Arsenal Weapons Command, Rock Island Public Schools, executive secretary for Marshall Field & Co., Chicago, and legal secretary to attorney Thomas W. Sander in Lake Charles, retiring in 1985.
In earlier years, Pat had been active in her church, the PTA, the National Safety Council and the Cub Scouts.
She loved her family and friends and enjoyed traveling. Pat also loved reading and playing cards and Scrabble. She also liked to cook and bake, making the best cookies in town.
Pat is survived by her husband, Craig; children (spouses), Kelly Cesnalis (George), Pittsburg, Kolleen Gaffney (John), Rock Island, Gene (Pam), Bettendorf, Kraig Karzin, Rock Island, Kyle Karzin, Davenport. She also is survived by 17 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and her sister, Virginia Cline (Ronald), Coal Valley.
Patricia married Constantine KARZIN on 3 Jul 1960.
Patricia next married Craig Hughes HARNLY, son of Wallace A. HARNLY and Doris Margaret DAUP, on 19 Jul 1979 in Denver, CO. (Craig Hughes HARNLY was born on 22 Jun 1942 in OH 1.)
