William Paul SEIFERT

William Paul Seifert, 76, of Crossville, passed away Dec. 16, 2009. Memorial services were held Dec. 22 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with Pastor David Lampman officiating.

Mr. Seifert was born Feb. 17, 1933, in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Paul and Thelma Schuster Seifert. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in mechanical engineering with additional studies at Carnegie Mellon. His career began as a design engineer with Alcoa Aluminum Company of America in Pittsburgh, while also serving six years in the Army Reserves. Later he transferred to the electrical design division, which relocated him to Marshall, TX. His employment also took him to Chillicothe, OH, Richmond, IN and Massena, NY. He retired from Alcoa in 1981 after 30 years of service.

He had a keen interest in aviation and was a member of the Air Force Museum Foundation and Wright State Aviation Club in Dayton, OH. He was also a volunteer with the EAA Chapters and he and his wife Shirley were volunteers with the annual Dayton Air Show. They enjoyed traveling in their RV and visited many places in the U.S. and Canada. The high point of their many travels was taking the 50th anniversary tour of the D-Day invasions in Europe.

He was an avid car buff and followed various racing circuits throughout their seasons. His interest in aviation and military history provided him with hours of research and places of special interest in their travels.

He was a wonderful, caring and intelligent man who will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
