• Legal, 1755, Bedford County, VA. 1755 Apr 29 - Bedford Co, Va Deed Bk 1:27 - Recorded 26 May 1755 - and Bedford Co, Va Order Bk 1 (1754-1761), p.79-80 Indenture between James Gibson and Elenor his wife of Bedford Co, Va to Jeremiah Early of Augusta Co, Va.. 55 pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Jeremiah Early, the receipt whereof the said James Gibson doth hereby acknowledge and sold 200 acres bounded as followeth, Viz: Beginning at a Locust, Thence North 5 degrees West 86 Poles to Pointers, Thence North 78 East 122 poles to a Red oak, South 5 East 300 poles to a red oak South 84 and a half West 112 poles to pointers North 5 East 80 poles to a Spanish oak North 15 West 112 poles to the First Station.. Together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging .. To have and hold the above land and premises to the said Jeremiah Early his heirs and assigns forever.. /s/ James Gibson, Elenor (+) Gibson. Memorandum: that on the day and year first within mentioned quiet and peaceable possession and seizen of the within land was give and made by James Gibson to Jeremiah Early according to the Tenor of the within deed.

• Will, 1764, Bedford County, VA. WILL OF JAMES GIBSON:
In the name of God Amen. I James Gibson of Bedford County, being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say I will that all my debts and funeral charges be paid and discharged by my son James Gibson
Item. I give and bequeath to my son Randall Gibson one Negrow named Bumboro to him and his heirs for ever.
Item. I give and bequive to my daughter Elizabeth Candler teen pounds current mony to heir and her heirs for ever.
Item. I give and bequive to my daughter Jane -- teen pounds current mony to heir and her heirs for ever.
Item. I give and bequive to my daughter Catherine Hale teen pounds current mony to heir and her heirs for ever.
Item. I give and bequive to my daughter Hanner Cook teen pounds current mony to heir and her heirs for ever.
Item. I give and bequive to my son in law Josiah Gibson five shilings current mony to him.
Item. I give and bequive to the ears [heirs] of my son John Gibson deceased five shilings current mony to them & their ears [heirs].
Item. I give and bequive to the sons of my son Archbell Gibson deceased five shilings current mony to them & their ears [heirs].
Item. I give and bequive to my son James Gibson all my hole estate of every thing both real and personal, nevertheless my will and desire is that my son James Gibson pay of the above legaries at the expration of twelve monts after being duly proved as is directed and if my son James Gibson shall die without heire then my desire is that the remainder of his estate be equally divided among my children one with another and my desire is that my son James Gibson shall injoy all my hole estate to him and his heirs, Ext's, administrators and assines for ever.
Lastly this my last will and testament hereby disannulling and disallowing all other will or wills here to fore dated, sealed with my seal and dated this fourteenth day of Apral one thousand seven hundred and sixty four.
