Samuel was the minister of the Sulphur Spring Methodist Church, which was on his property, near Dickensenville, VA, Russell Co. Some of the original Gibson lands in Russell County [not far from Scott Co. line] are still in the Gibson family to date.

Samuel married Catherine GRATNER, daughter of Hans GRATNER and Elizabeth, on 14 Oct 1794 in Washington County, VA. (Catherine GRATNER was born about 1780 and died before 1850 in Russell County, VA.)
