SHELBY DAILY GLOBE: 09 February 1905

In Memory of Mother Leicy - Death the greatest enemy of our physical being, has come into our midst again. This time it has laid its icy hand on the brow of a dear mother, Sarah LEICY, aged 74 years, 10 months and 2 days. The history of this dar mother cannot be written. There is something so pure ans spiritual about it we cannot confine it in lines of type. She leaves four daughters and three sons viz: Mrs Harry GEEDY and Mrs Charles CASHMAN of Shelby, Mrs. Andrew MELICK of Ganges, Mrs. HEFFELFINGER of Pennsylvania, John LEICY of Mansfield, David LEICY of Crestline and Isaac whose residence is unknown to mourn her absence. In the year of 1900 she was left a lonely widow. (goes on extensively). She died Feb 4, 1905 at the home of her son Daivd Leicy's where her last few months on earth were spent and where she received every attention willing hands could minister. (goes on again) The funeral obsequies took place at the Dunkard Church Feb 6, conducted by Rev DESSENBURG who preached a very appropriate sermon from Rev 14:12:18. Six grandsons then acting as pall-bearers then solemnly bore her remains out of the church to the grave and laid them to rest where father and mother now lie side-by-side. (Goes on again, ending with a poem).
