Michael Ezra TULLIS
Another name for Michael was Michael TULLIS. Noted events in his life were: • Biography. MICHAEL TULLIS was allowed pension on his application executed Sept.19, 1827, at which time he was a resident of Franklin Co., IN, where he had lived seven years. In 1830, he moved to the state of Ohio. Sometime during the next year or so, he moved back to IN. He died March 2, 1832, in Franklin Co., IN. • Military Service, 1775, Berkeley County, VA. MICHAEL TULLIS enlisted in Berkeley Co., VA (later W.VA), in June,1775, shortly after the battle of BunkerHill, in Capt. Hugh Stephensons Virginia Rifle Company, marched from Shepherdstown, VA (later W.VA), to Boston, and served one year: He re-enlisted in 1776, for three more years and served in Capt. Daniel Culp's "Company "8" Virginia Regiment, and in Col. William Darke's Virginia Regiment: During the last year of his service, he was a member of Capt. Livingston's famed LIFE GUARDS, assigned to protect GENERAL GEORGE WASHINGTON. He served in the battles of Staten Island, Brandywine, and Germantown. During this service, he broke his arm, but no details nor the date of this incident have been found. • Tax List, 1810, Warren County, OH. • Note: middle name. Although he is commonly identified as Michael Ezra Tullis in many secondary sources, Tom Tullis has not been able to find a primary source that shows a middle name for him.
