• Will, 1812, Jefferson County, TN. JEFFERSON COUNTY, TN - WILLS - Robert Pierce, Sr. - 29 May 1812 ===============================================

I Robert Pierce of Jefferson County & State of Tennessee, being weak
of Body but Sound of Mind and Memory do make and Ordain this my last Will
and Testament.
First it is my will, that all my Just debts should be paid as Soon as
can conveniently be done after my decease.

Item-- I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife L owratha Pierce, one
Sorrel Mare, Saddle and Bridle, one cow (coloured Black and White), one
feathered Bed and furniture belonging thereto, one walnut chest, and also
my kitchen and table furniture ( Except such articles as Shall be
particularly mentioned and otherwise disposed of hereafter). One (wd?
flame, plane?) wheel and reed ?, and Big Spinning Wheel and Walnut Table
and armed chair. Two other chairs, One Smoothing (?) Iron and pair of
Cotton Cords and pair of Wool Cords.
One Spotted (Hog and) Two Sheep to be considered her own first per.
rights, for ever and the use of the dog ( dogs name? can't read) during
her widowhood.

Item--I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Lowratha Pierce the use of
the plantation and Buildings where I now dwell, Except the field in which
Corn is now planted, and the Orchard that lyes above the Lot that Encloses
the house and stables, and the East End of the barn, and also the use of
firewood off the land during her widowhood.

Item--I give and Bequeath unto my son George Pierce the plantation Land
(wd? looks like pacmises ? and appurtanancees?) thereto belonging of the
tract or parcle of Land Whereon I now dwell to him and his heirs forever
with only such Exceptions as I have heretofore made in favor of my wife
during her widowhood.

Item--I give and bequeath unto my grandson Robert Marsh forty dollars.

Item--I give and bequeath unto my Seven children namely, David, Robert,
Caleb, and Solomon Pierce, Rachel Beals, Mary Beals, & Hannah Williams all
their residences and the remainder of My Estate Both Real and personal to
be equally divided between them part & parts alike to them their Heirs &
assigns forever.

And Lastly I Ordain, Constitute & Appoint my brother-in-law Henry
Thornbaugh and my son Robert Pierce, Executors to this My last Will and
Testament in Witness where of I have hereunto set My hand & Seal this 29th
of the 5th month 1812.

Signed, Sealed and Declared by the said Robert Pierce to be his last Will
& Testement in presence of us

These appear to be on pages 30 and 31 of the will book.

The Beals and Williams children were the married names of Robert PIERCE's last
three children, Rachael (Pierce) Beals, Mary (Pierce) Beals and Hannah
(Pierce) Williams. It is believed that the father of the Unk. BEALS men that
these girls married is Jacob Beals.
