Mary married Moses TULLIS, son of Robert (presumed) TULLIS and Unknown, Abt 1760 (abt 1747) in Frederick, VA [later Berkeley, WV]. (Moses TULLIS was born about 1720-1725 in possibly NJ and died summer 1777 (pre 21 Oct 1777) in Frederick (later Berkeley, WV), VA.)

I have not been able to find any original sources documenting the marriage of Moses Tullis and Mary Elizabeth Van Dyke. However, this "fact" goes back to at least the 1930's among Tullis researchers-- not that that makes it any more true, just a widespread assumption among many researchers. What is clear, from Moses' will, is that his wife at the time he died, and who survived him by some number of years, was named Mary Elizabeth. Some researchers believe that Moses Tullis was actually married twice: first to a Miss Van Dyke and second to a Mary Elizabeth Unknown. This is possibly more consistent with the total number of children involved. It is also perhaps more consistent with the fact that his widow, Mary Elizabeth, later remarried to a Mr. Timmons. If anyone has any original sources documenting the marriage or marriages of Moses Tullis I would appreciate hearing from you.
