• Obituary: New Salem Association of Old Regular Baptist, 1992, Knott County, KY. Thornsberry, Martha Combs Sister Martha Combs Thornsberry, one of thirteen children born to Kennis Combs and Nancy Gibson Combs. Sister Martha was born Feb 29, 1888, she entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 8, 1992at Parkview Manor Nursing Home at Pikeville, Ky. Making her stay on earth 104 years one month and eleven days. Sister Martha married George Thornsberry. They had four children, Holly, Guy, Brookie and Clyde. Sister Martha was preceded in death by her father mother all ten brothers two sisters her husband and two son's; Guy and Clyde. Sister Martha daughter Holly followed her in death on Feb 24, 1993. Leaving one daughter living at this time, Sister Brookie Craft of Wayland, Ky. She also leaves 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grand-children and 5 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, and many relatives and loved ones. Sister Martha joined Caney Fork Old Regular Baptist Church at Raven, Ky in Knott Coon May 16, 1942. She remained a faithful member until her death. It was always a blessing for the whole church to look out and see Sister Martha come walking down the road with her cane in her hand. She would come in smiling always telling something funny. Having everyone in the church laughing. Then the young ones 70 and 80 years old would stop complaining when they would see someone coming to church every month that was over a hundred years old, so joyful and happy. She sure was a blessing to all of us at the Caney Fork Church. Sister Martha was buried on the Gibson Cemetery at Raven, Kentucky.
